The Incoterms rules or International Commercial Terms are a series of pre-defined commercial terms published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). The Incoterms rules are intended primarily to clearly communicate the tasks, costs, and risks associated with the transportation and delivery of goods.
The Incoterms rules are accepted by governments, legal authorities, and practitioners worldwide for the interpretation of most commonly used terms in international trade. They are intended to reduce or remove altogether uncertainties arising from different interpretation of the rules in different countries. As such they are regularly incorporated into sales contracts worldwide.
EXW – Ex Works (named place)
FCA – Free Carrier (named place of delivery)
CPT – Carriage Paid To (named place of destination)
CIP – Carriage and Insurance Paid to (named place of destination)
DAT – Delivered at Terminal (named terminal at port or place of destination)
DAP – Delivered at Place (named place of destination)
DDP – Delivered Duty Paid (named place of destination)
Sea and Inland Waterway Transport
FAS – Free Alongside Ship (named port of shipment)
FOB – Free on Board (named port of shipment)
CFR – Cost and Freight (named port of destination)
CIF – Cost, Insurance and Freight (named port of destination)

The resources managed in logistics can include common or special handled items, such as fresh food & beverages, machinery, raw materials, electronic equipment, medical & health devices or pharmaceuticals.
The logistics of physical items usually involves the integration of information flow, material handling, production, packaging, inventory, transportation, warehousing and often security.

COMMON EXPORT DOCUMENTS
Proforma Invoice
In some countries the Proforma is needed to apply for Import License. A Proforma invoice is an invoice prepared by the exporter before shipping the goods, informing the buyer of the goods to be sent, their value, and other key specifications. It also can be used as an offering of sale or price quotation.
Commercial Invoice
A commercial invoice is a bill for the goods from the seller to the buyer. These invoices are often used by governments to determine the true value of goods when assessing customs duties. Governments that use the commercial invoice to control imports will often specify its form, content, number of copies, language to be used, and other characteristics.
Bill of Lading
Is a contract between the shipper and the carrier. Usually the shipper is the exporter but can also be other company on behalf of the exporter. The customer (shown in the BL as Consignee) usually needs the original as proof of ownership to take possession of the goods.
Export Packing List
Considerably more detailed and informative than a standard domestic packing list, an export packing list lists seller, buyer, shipper, invoice number, date of shipment, mode of transport, carrier, and itemizes quantity, description, the type of package, such as a box, crate, drum or carton, the quantity of packages, total net and gross weight (in kilograms), package marks, and dimensions, if appropriate. Both commercial stationers and freight forwarders carry packing list forms. A packing list may serve as conforming document.
Import License
An Import License is a document issued by a national government authorizing the import of goods into its territorry. Sometimes import is subject to quotas established by the government. The IL are essencial for allowing payments, order transfer or L/C applications.
Export License
An Export License is a government document that authorizes the export of specific goods in specific quantities to a particular destination. This document may be required for most or all exports to some countries or for other countries only under special circumstances.
Certificate of Origin
The Certificate of Origin is required by some countries for all or only certain products. In many cases, a statement of origin printed on company letterhead will suffice, other times importer requires this certificate to be issued by a competent authority such as the local chamber of commerce. The exporter should verify whether a CO is required with the buyer and/or an experienced shipper/freight forwarder or the Trade Information Center.
